Warm Smoothie Bowl

Food as medicine highlight

My acupuncturist Heather challenged me to switch up my morning smoothie for something warm in the winter months. We both laughed at the thought of a warm smoothie, but I figured why not try it! Enter: this berry almond butter warm smoothie bowl. It features blueberries, which have the highest amount of antioxidants compared to any other fruit or vegetable. Antioxidants fight oxidative stress, lower inflammation, and are key when it comes to supporting your fertility. The smoothie bowl also includes protein to support stable blood sugar levels, as well as healthy fats, which are key when it comes to hormone health. Chia seeds further support blood sugar and fuel a healthy gut microbiome thanks to all the fiber they contain! I hope you enjoy this warm twist on my favorite smoothie :)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond milk

  • 2 scoops collagen peptides

  • 1 tbsp almond butter

  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries

  • 1/4 cup chia seeds

  • 1 tsp cacao

  • Pinch of ceylon cinnamon

Directions

  1. Blend all ingredients together in a blender besides the chia seeds.

  2. Transfer the smoothie to a small pan and warm over medium heat. Once warm, whisk in 1/4 cup chia seeds until mixture thickens.

  3. Serve with desired toppings.
